The London Unified Prayer Timetable, explained
The London Unified Islamic Prayer Timetable is a shared timetable followed by a number of London mosques, including East London Mosque and London Central Mosque. In summer its Fajr and Isha are not produced by a simple sun-angle calculation, so most prayer apps don’t match it. In NearMasjid, choose London Unified Islamic Prayer Timetable as your prayer times source to use the timetable itself.
What it is
The London Unified Islamic Prayer Timetable is a printed timetable agreed by London mosques so that the city’s Muslims pray at consistent times. It is published at londonprayertimes.com.
Why prayer apps don’t match it
Most apps calculate Fajr and Isha from the angle of the sun below the horizon. In London in midsummer the sun never sinks far enough for the common angles, so calculators fall back on high-latitude rules, and the results drift from the printed sheet. The London Unified timetable uses its own agreed summer times instead.
Use it on iPhone
- Open NearMasjid and go to the Prayer tab.
- Tap the gear button.
- Under Prayer times source, choose London Unified Islamic Prayer Timetable.
The Prayer tab then shows London Unified – Official timetable. The timetable downloads in the background and applies only inside London; elsewhere times are calculated.
Matching your local mosque elsewhere
Outside London, choose the calculation method and Asr rule your mosque uses, then use Per-prayer offsets (up to ±30 minutes) to fine-tune. See why prayer times differ between apps.
London Unified, built in
NearMasjid can use the London Unified Islamic Prayer Timetable itself, not an approximation, and falls back to calculation outside London.

Frequently asked questions
Which mosques use the London Unified timetable?
According to londonprayertimes.com, it is used at a number of mosques in London, including East London Mosque, London Central Mosque and Croydon ICT. Check your own mosque’s notice board to be sure.
Why don’t calculated times match it in summer?
At London’s latitude the sun doesn’t go far enough below the horizon in midsummer for the usual Fajr and Isha angles to work, so the timetable uses agreed times instead. A sun-angle calculator can’t reproduce them.
What happens outside London?
NearMasjid only applies the timetable inside its region. Elsewhere it calculates times on your device with your chosen method.
